William Way Community Center: The city’s gathering space for members of the
GLBTQIA community. Features peer support groups, a LGBTQIA library, art exhibits

ActionAIDS: A local organization that works with people living with or affected by
HIV/AIDS to sustain and enhance their quality of life. Location: 1216 Arch Street, 6th

Council for Relationships (CFR): Offers low cost individual and couples therapy
and wellness classes. LGBTQI and other sex therapy offered at the CFR’s Institute for

Planned Parenthood: Offers sexual and reproductive healthcare for women AND
men at a sliding scale rate. LGBTQI knowledgeable and friendly. Locations can be
found all over Philadelphia. The website is also great for educating yourself on sexual

Philadelphia Department of Public Health: Multiple health centers all over the
city offer free STD and HIV testing, primary health care, mental health care, prenatal/
baby care and dental care to Philadelphia residents. Contact info:

Pink & Blues: A free LGBTQIA support group for those suffering from mental illness
and/or addiction. Location: Held Wednesdays from 7-9 at St. Luke and The Epiphany

Giovanni’s Room: The country’s oldest LGBTQIA bookstore, right here in Philly!
A great bookstore and even better community space. Location: 345 S 12th Street,

Equality Advocates PA: The only LGBTQIA-focused political advocacy group in
PA. The organization works to better the political landscape for LGBTQI people in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Location: 1211 Chestnut Street, Suite 605,

American Civil Liberties Union Pennsylvania (ACLU): The country’s
foremost nonprofit that protects civil rights for all, especially including the LGBTQI
population. The PA chapter specifically focuses on changing PA laws and helping
residents who have been treated unjustly; discrimination, immigration issues, etc. This is
the place to go if you feel your rights have been violated and you would like to take legal

PFLAG (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Philly: One
of the largest chapters of the national PFLAG non-profit organization. The group is open
to friends and families of LGBT individuals to foster a sense of community and open
discussion regarding loved ones’ sexuality and/or gender identity. Location: Meetings are

Philly Gay Calendar: An online website that is the go-to site to find out anything
and everything LGBTQIA that’s going on in Philly. From bar crawls to sports leagues to

Philly Pride Presents: The non-profit organizers of the largest LGBTQIA festivals
in Philadelphia, including Pridefest in June and Outfest in October. Volunteer or check

Equality Forum: The largest annual international and national LGBTQIA civil rights
forum right here in Philly! Free panels, films and discussions are held at various
locations around the city on a broad range of topics concerning the LGBTQIA

Trans Health Conference: Quite possibly the largest transgender conference in the
nation (world?) The conference, held in June at the Convention Center courtesy of the
Mazzoni Center, is 100% free and offers workshops and discussions on transgender

Philadelphia Qfest: Philly’s annual LGBTQIA film festival where you can scope the
hottest indie LGBTQIA films. Volunteering gets you free screening passes! Contact info:

Sisterspace: A local nonprofit that focuses on the empowerment of women and
lesbians. Features a 3-day women’s festival each year with music, arts and workshops

Philadelphia Dyke March: A political action group for queer women that hosts an
alternative women’s parade in conjunction (and as a “fuck you”) to Philly Pride. Contact

The Leeway Foundation: A local grant organization that provides grants to women

Passional Boutique: The most well-informed, well-stocked, educational, sex-positive
sex shops in the city. There are two shops right next to each other: a fetish wear boutique
